Algerian-Railways_imagesItalferr and ANESRIF, the Algerian Government agency for the implementation of railway investments signed a MoU on establishment of a joint venture with the aim of providing specialist training and engineering services for the design, site supervision and commissioning of transport infrastructure projects, especially railways, to be built in Algeria in the forthcoming future.
Within the JV, ANESRIF will own 51% and Italferr 49%.
This includes an ambitious programme for the modernisation of the Algerian railways, featuring the construction of over 5,200 km of railway lines, for an estimated value of USD 32 billion.
The programme provides for a series of projects, designed according to state-of-the-art international standards for railway infrastructure, electrification, signalling and telecommunications.
Within October this year a specifically designated Steering Committee will complete the necessary formalities for activating the company.
