Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan rail corridor to be commissioned on December

iranNew railway corridor  linking Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will be commissioned on December 3, 2014, according to Iran Russian Radio. The new Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan railway is more than 900 kilometers long. International transportation experts believe that launching of the new railway will allow to reduce the transportation route between CIS countries to the Persian Gulf and Europe by 600 kilometers. 82 km of the railway runs through territory of Iran, 700km – through territory of Turkmenistan and 120km – through territory of Kazakhstan. The operation of the railway, also known as the ‘North-South rail corridor’, will reduce transportation costs dramatically.
