Iran to accelerate construction of railway aimed to connect country to Europe

Iranian Railways has adopted policies to accelerate the construction of the Mianeh-Tabriz railway in northwestern Iran, which is aimed to connect the country to Europe.
Mohsen Pourseyed Aqaei, managing director of Iranian Railway Company, said as the company is facing a budget deficit, it has prioritized the construction of railways which are of strategic importance, Iran’s ISNA news agency reported on August 29. The route will include 9 stations, 7 tunnels, and 21 bridges. The railway is projected to carry 3 million tons of cargo and 4.5 million passengers per year.
