On 12 December 2025, groups of activists from the Stay Grounded and Back on Track networks will organise a simultaneous international pyjama party in several European cities to promote night trains.
The event, designed as a creative and informal action, aims to draw the attention of the public and decision-makers to the need for the rapid development of a European network of night trains connecting the main regions of the continent – from Lisbon to Tallinn and from Narvik to Palermo.
Participants are invited to train stations at 8 p.m. CET
The actions will start at 8 p.m. CET (9 p.m. Romanian time), when participants are invited to show up at the announced train stations wearing pajamas and symbolic accessories such as sleep masks, pillows, or stuffed toys.
Depending on the preferences of each local group, the concept may vary from a “silent disco” to an impromptu mini-concert or other artistic activities that convey the common message: night trains are an affordable, environmentally friendly, and social solution for long-distance travel in Europe.
Dedicated materials and interactive map for the public
To encourage widespread participation, the organizers have set up a dedicated website with promotional materials, guidance on obtaining the necessary permits, recommendations for managing interaction with the public, and a map where travelers can note the destinations they would like to see connected by night trains.
Participants are encouraged to talk to people at the station and ask them to fill out a short form about their favorite destinations, with the information to be integrated into a European map of the public’s “railway dreams.”
Coordination via Telegram and logistical support for local groups
For coordination, the organizers use a dedicated Telegram group, where live broadcasts, silent disco playlists, and other logistical details are announced.
A “party kit” is also available with preparation lists, recommended roles (such as mood manager or media person), guidelines on communicating with the press, and tips on interacting with station security personnel.
