Messe Berlin has announced the expansion of its global transport technology trade fair brand with the launch of InnoTrans Asia, set to debut in Singapore from 7 to 9 September 2027. The announcement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

Held at Singapore EXPO, InnoTrans Asia will take place in alternating years to the flagship InnoTrans Berlin event. The new edition aims to serve as a strategic platform for the rapidly evolving transport sector in Asia-Pacific, offering a dedicated showcase for railway technology, infrastructure, public transport, interiors and tunnel construction.
“InnoTrans Asia is an important addition to the world’s leading trade fair in Berlin and enriches our international event portfolio,” said Dirk Hoffmann, Chief Operating Officer at Messe Berlin. “While InnoTrans Berlin will remain the centrepiece of the industry, we intend to establish InnoTrans Asia as a link between emerging markets and global innovations.”
The decision to host the inaugural edition in Singapore reflects the region’s ongoing investment in transport infrastructure. Countries such as China, India, and several Southeast Asian nations are increasingly prioritising modernisation and sustainability in both passenger and freight rail systems.
“Asia is investing heavily in expanding its rail transport infrastructure for both passengers and freight transport,” said Kai Mangelberger, Senior Vice President of Mobility at Messe Berlin. “The demand for modern rail transport technology, automation and sustainable solutions is increasing in China, India and many other countries in South East Asia. With InnoTrans Asia, we are creating a central platform for the Asian market — right here in Singapore.”
Singapore’s selection as host city is supported by its established reputation for safety, innovation, and a pro-business environment, alongside its strong track record in hosting complex industrial trade shows. According to the Singapore Tourism Board, these advantages make it a natural gateway for facilitating business between major regional economies.
“Securing InnoTrans Asia reaffirms Singapore’s position as the World’s Best MICE City and demonstrates our ability to host major industrial tradeshows,” said Ms Ong Huey Hong, Assistant Chief Executive, Industry Development Group, STB. “Our competitive advantages – excellent connectivity, world-class infrastructure, neutrality, and trusted business environment – continue to attract major international tradeshows. As a key hub between major markets like China and India, Singapore serves as an important gateway to the dynamic Asia-Pacific region.”
Organisers expect the event to attract a broad range of industry stakeholders, including public and private transport operators, manufacturers, suppliers, infrastructure firms, trade bodies and research institutions. A supporting conference programme will offer targeted insights into regional trends and innovations.
Dirk Hoffmann added: “InnoTrans Asia acts as a strategic bridge between global industry players and the fast-growing Asian transport market. By facilitating access to new business opportunities and fostering cross-border partnerships, the event supports sustainable economic growth across regions.”
Building on the success and expertise of InnoTrans Berlin, the Singapore edition will provide a focused opportunity for businesses to connect with Asian markets, while also offering a comprehensive overview of global developments in the rail and transport technology sectors.
