InnoTrans 2026, 30 years on: global growth and new technologies in rail transport

The 2026 edition of InnoTrans will open under the official title “Mobility on a global scale – projects and opportunities for growth,” with a focus on the global growth of the rail industry and new opportunities for development.

Thirty years after its first edition, the international trade fair dedicated to transport technologies returns to Berlin from September 22 to 25, 2026, bringing together manufacturers, operators, authorities, and specialists from around the world.

The organizers announce that the entire exhibition area – approximately 200,000 square meters, including 42 halls, outdoor spaces, test tracks, and the bus area – is already booked, more than six months before the opening.

According to InnoTrans director Kerstin Schulz, the high level of interest from industry, politics, and academia reflects the need for international cooperation and solutions for sustainable mobility.

InnoTrans 2026, technologies of the future in the spotlight

The anniversary edition will focus on technologies considered essential for the transformation of rail transport.

Key topics include autonomous public transport, cybersecurity, robotics, 3D printing, and the use of artificial intelligence.

Digitalization, data usage, electrification, and reducing environmental impact will also play a central role at the event.

Night trains are back in the spotlight

One of the topics highlighted for 2026 is the revival of night trains, which are experiencing a new wave of interest in Europe.

Several exhibitors will present concepts and models dedicated to long-distance overnight travel, with an emphasis on comfort and energy efficiency.

In the same context, the organizers will launch for the first time a competition dedicated to artificial intelligence-based solutions, in which participants will seek practical applications for the current challenges of the mobility sector.

A new platform for young professionals

The 2026 edition will also introduce a new meeting format dedicated to young specialists in the field.

As part of InnoTrans Campus, a round table dedicated to young professionals in the field will be organized for the first time.

Through this initiative, the organizers aim to encourage the involvement of the new generation in the future development of the transport sector.
