Indonesia to build two railway lines

indonesiaThe indonesian government is elaborating two railway projects to Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang (a city in the Province of Banten).
The first rail project will be build by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the railway company in Indonesia, and assisted by the government. The second project involves the construction of an an express rail line (33 km) from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Halim Airport. The investments worth USD 2 billion.
“If the cost, benchmark of an MRT line per 1 km requires USD 100 million, both underground and elevated then the estimated cost will be USD 2 billion, or 20 trillion rupiah not including land acquisition,” said President Director of PT Sarana Multi Infrastructure (PT SMI), Emma Sri Martini.
The financing of the projects is planned to be done by authorities and private investors, through PPP.
“Using the PPP scheme, the budget from the government may not be more 49%,” Emma Sri Martini explained.
