India: Wi-Fi services expanded to more stations

03-indiaIndian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu launched free Wi-Fi services at the railway stations of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, Raipur in Chhattisgarh and Kacheguda in Telengana. The services were commissioned by RailTel, in association with Google.
RailTel provides power and fibre network infrastructure while Google provides the radio access network. The services are provided under ‘Railwire’, the retail broadband distribution model of RailTel.
By the end of 2016, free Wi-Fi services will be in place at 100 major railway stations. Railway stations in Allahabad, Bhopal, Pune, Ranchi, Ernakulum, Jaipur, Patna and Guwahati will have this service.
