HŽ Infrastruktura and Plasser & Theurer signed a contract for the acquisition of railway vehicles for special purposes namely strategic machinery, wagons, and small-scale track maintenance equipment.

The contract, signed following a public procurement process, is valued at EUR 49.4 million (excluding VAT) and is financed through a loan from the European Investment Bank. The delivery period for all the specified machines is four years from the signing of the contract.
“This contract represents the largest step forward to date in the modernisation of equipment vital to the renewal and maintenance of railway infrastructure. As we are currently experiencing the most significant wave of investment in railway reconstruction and modernisation, there is no doubt that this machinery will help us become even more efficient and faster in our work,” said Ivan Kršić, the President of the Management Board of HŽ Infrastruktura.

Under the contract Plasser & Theurer will deliver a total of nine railway vehicles to HŽ Infrastruktura, including:
- a machine for vertical and horizontal track alignment
- a ballast cleaning machine
- two machines for track and turnout alignment
- two machines for ballast profiling
- three tipper wagons with conveyor belts
“Signing this contract marks an important milestone that not only sets new standards for efficiency and the application of modern technologies in the construction and railway sectors, but also sends a strong message about the importance of international cooperation. We are therefore very pleased to implement this strategically important project in partnership with HŽ Infrastruktura, and we look forward to a successful and long-term collaboration,” said Thomas Schöpf, the Managing Director of Plasser & Theurer.
