Hungary reveals railway priority projects

hungaryHungaryʼs government has declared a number of road and railway projects of “elevated significance” in the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Közlöny, and plans to accelerate their implementation, Hungarian news agency MTI reports, quoted by The Budapest Business Journal.
Included in the railway projects are the construction of a line connecting the capital with Liszt Ferenc International Airport Budapest, the renovation of Keleti and Nyugati train stations in Budapest and the purchase of multiple units by state-owned railway company MAV.
According to the amendment, fast-tracking or accelerating projects of “elevated significance” means they do not have to undergo the same regulatory procedures as standard projects and a special coordination between the government and state organizations is established in order to accelerate the obtaining of permits.
