Hübner Group has unveiled HEFES, a modular front-end system for trams and light rail vehicles (LRVs) that integrates safety features, energy absorption and sensor technology.
The HEFES front-end system is a fully integrated solution for the front section of trams and LRVs. It is supplied as a ready-to-install assembly, bringing together the front-end shell, kinematic elements, energy absorption systems and sensor technology in a single modular, plug-and-play solution.
The system is designed to improve vehicle safety while simplifying the installation and integration of front-end components.
One system, multiple functions
HEFES brings together the key elements of a front-end system for trams and light rail vehicles. It was developed by Hemscheidt Rail, a Hübner Group company.
The system includes the front-end shell and bumper, kinematic elements for precise movement control, as well as dampers and energy-absorbing elements designed to absorb energy and reduce impact forces in the event of a collision. It also incorporates intelligent sensor technology for monitoring system functions.
HEFES is aimed at vehicle manufacturers and public transport operators looking for an integrated front-end solution for trams and LRVs.
Customers can benefit from high system availability and lower life cycle costs, thanks to components designed and coordinated to work together as a complete system.
As a fully integrated front-end system, HEFES is designed for straightforward installation. Its modular plug-and-play design and clearly defined interfaces make it suitable for both new vehicles and the retrofitting and modernisation of existing fleets.
HEFES can be manufactured from both glass-fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP) and polyurethane (PU), with the materials designed to meet demanding requirements for strength, weight and fire protection.
For energy absorption in the event of a collision, the HEFES system can be equipped with both reversible energy-absorbing elements, such as dampers, and irreversible elements.
