Hitachi Rail has unveiled the new BV700 validator, a ticket validation device designed for modern public transport networks, which promises to improve the passenger experience and facilitate the integration of different payment systems.
The new equipment is part of the company’s ticketing solutions portfolio and is integrated into the TRANSCITY platform, used to manage fare systems in multimodal transport networks.
The BV700 validator is the successor to the BV600 model, already installed in ten countries and with over 50,000 units sold.
The validator supports contactless and QR payments
According to the company, the new device has been designed to meet the increasingly complex requirements of transport operators and to facilitate the use of different payment methods.
The BV700 is available in two screen sizes – 5 and 7 inches – and offers touchscreen interaction.
The validator can accept multiple types of payment media, including: The device has been designed to facilitate maintenance and reduce downtime.
- contactless cards
- EMV (Europay, Mastercard, and Visa) payments for open-loop systems
- QR codes
- hands-free solutions based on Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology
- facial recognition systems.
Designed and manufactured in France
According to Hitachi Rail, the BV700 was designed and manufactured in France, and the device’s modular design allows components to be upgraded without completely replacing the equipment.
The company claims that this approach helps reduce waste and extend the product’s lifespan.
The new validator will be officially unveiled to the public at the Transport Ticketing Global event, taking place in London on March 17 and 18.
“With the BV700, we are bringing to market a more powerful, modular, and easier-to-maintain validator that supports transport operators in adapting to new passenger requirements,” said Yves Baumgartner, Vice President of Fare Collection Systems at Hitachi Rail.
