GCC railway project to be completed by 2018

GCC_Railway_networkThe GCC railway project would be completed by 2018 Abdullatif Al-Zayani, GCC secretary-general said. “We have completed engineering designs for the project and technical and financial committees have been formed to conduct further studies and discuss matters related to connecting the railway with local networks,” Abdullatif Al-Zayani said, writes Arab News.
GCC rail project starts from Kuwait via Dammam in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Bahrain through the proposed causeway to be built parallel to the King Fahd Causeway. And from Dammam to the State of Qatar through Salwa. The GCC rail network would also link Qatar with Bahrain via the Qatar – Bahrain Causeway to be established between them, and from Saudi Arabia through Al Batha to the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi – Al Ain) and then to end up in Oman across Sohar to Muscat. The total project length is approximately 2116 km.
