FS Group and Ukrainian Railways sign memorandum

FS Group (Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane) and Ukrainian Railways (UZ) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to explore joint opportunities in international rail connectivity and infrastructure development. The agreement, signed by FS Group CEO Stefano Antonio Donnarumma and UZ CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, was formalised during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025, held this year in Rome.

Spanning a two-year period, the non-binding memorandum outlines shared objectives to strengthen passenger and freight links between Italy and Ukraine, enhance international logistics, and exchange technical expertise to support the development of a modern and resilient Ukrainian rail network.

As part of the agreement, the two railway companies will establish a joint working group to oversee the implementation of initiatives. This group will meet at least four times per year to monitor progress and define potential collaborative actions.

In parallel with the MoC, FS Group also intends to sign a letter of intent to provide uniforms and essential equipment for Ukrainian railway staff, further supporting UZ’s operational needs.

The initiative reinforces FS Group’s ongoing commitment to supporting Ukraine’s post-conflict recovery and reconstruction efforts. By fostering closer industrial and railway ties between the two countries, the partnership aims to contribute to Ukraine’s economic and social regeneration.
