First container train for Poland-China route arrived at Altynkol station

KTZ has announced that for the first time, a container train used Altynkol station on the route between Lodz, Poland, and Chengdu, China, which will travel regularly. The train of 41 forty-foot containers, which passed through the Altynkol station, the Kazakhstan border, was processed in the Dry port of the SEZ “Khorgos – Eastern Gate”.
“Through the Kazakhstan station of Altynkol, a container train from Poland to China will travel regularly. The reorientation of cargo flows from the interstate point of the Dostyk-Alashankou crossing to Altynkol-Khorgos increases the speed processing of trains coming from a standard railway track (1435 mm) to a wide (1520 mm), including customs clearance,” Almat Karimov, Director of the Container Transport Department of KTZ Express.
According to his statement, the entire infrastructure of the Dry Port of the SEZ “Khorgos – Eastern Gate” and Altynkol station is ready to handle a large cargo flow on China-Europe-China route.
The development of transport corridors and the attraction of transit flows passing through the territory of Kazakhstan are country’s priorities.
Last year, 201 thousand TEUs were transported through Kazakhstan by the direction of China-Europe-China and in 2018, it is planned to reach the level of 346 thousand TEUs.
