Federal Passenger Company to purchase new carriages

Russia’s Federal Passenger Company announced that this year it will purchase 686 carriages, of which 86 percent, or 589 of the new carriages will be couchettes. According to statistics, more than 65 percent of Federal Passenger Company users choose couchettes for their rail journeys.
All the new rolling stock will be equipped with air conditioning systems and biotoilets, with USB connectors so that passengers can recharge their mobile phones and other devices during their travel. The carriage interiors were finished using modern quality materials with high levels of heat insulation, durability and fire safety.
Also, the carriages are equipped with warning systems (the display shows the exact time and information about the air temperature) and video surveillance.
By the end of the first quarter of 2018, Federal Passenger Company will put into operation 200 new passenger cars. Currently, the company deployed 133 carriages, of which 120 couchettes and 13 double-decker cars in a variety of designs.
