Evelyn Palla appointed the CEO of DB

The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bahn AG appointed Evelyn Palla as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 October 2025. In February 2019, Palla joined Deutsche Bahn, becoming CFO of DB Fernverkehr and in July 2022, she was appointed Board Member for Regional Transport at Deutsche Bahn AG.

“Evelyn Palla has demonstrated outstanding operational and strategic capabilities in leading European companies and, since 2019, also within Deutsche Bahn. She has shown that she can successfully implement transformation projects,” Werner Gatzer, Chair of the Supervisory Board, said.

Evelyn Palla, born in 1973, began her professional career in 1997 at Infineon Technologies AG. From 2003, the South Tyrolean native worked for E.ON AG in Munich, Cologne and Milan. In 2011, she moved to Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) in Vienna, where from 2015 she served as Board Member for Regional Transport at ÖBB Personenverkehr AG, and also took up the role of Chair of the Supervisory Board of ÖBB Postbus AG.

On 14 August 2025, Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder, Supervisory Board Chair Werner Gatzer, and the outgoing CEO Richard Lutz agreed to terminate the CEO’s contract early by mutual consent.
