Eurostar has announced the introduction of a fifth daily return service on its popular London–Amsterdam route, set to begin on 15 December 2025. The enhancement is part of a broader strategy to improve cross-border connectivity and respond to growing demand for sustainable high-speed rail travel between the UK and the Netherlands.
The expansion follows the opening of the new cross-channel terminal in Amsterdam in February 2025, which has enabled Eurostar to triple capacity on the route—from accommodating 275 passengers per train in 2024 to over 650 passengers per train by the end of this year. The new terminal now operates at full capacity, offering a streamlined travel experience between city centres.
“London to Amsterdam is one of the busiest routes by plane in Europe. With five daily returns and over 3,000 seats per day, we are offering a sustainable alternative to travel between the UK and the Netherlands,” said Gwendoline Cazenave, CEO of Eurostar. “Since February, we’ve seen exceptional demand on our Amsterdam route, and the addition of a fifth daily service gives customers more choice and flexibility. It’s our ambition to offer a sustainable alternative and grow international high-speed rail as customers’ first choice across Europe.”
According to Eurostar, demand for the London–Amsterdam route has increased significantly, with passenger volumes up 18% year-on-year since the new terminal opened. Business travel has played a key role in this growth, accounting for around 15% of passengers in 2024—approximately 130,000 business travellers—underlining the route’s importance for corporate connectivity.
The Netherlands continues to be a strategic market for Eurostar. In 2024 alone, the operator transported 4.3 million passengers to and from the country. Eurostar has set a long-term target of carrying 30 million passengers annually, supported by a growing network, additional destinations such as Geneva, and the acquisition of new rolling stock.
