Indonesian Government and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a JPY 70 billion (EUR 549.57 million) loan agreement for the construction of Jakarta MRT phase 2.
The loan has a repayment period of 40 years with a grace period of 12 years.

This line will be an extension of the Lebak Bulus – Bundaran HI corridor (North-South MRT). Under the phase two, 8 stations will be constructed, bringing the entire North-South MRT to 13 stations and 23.3 km. the section is expected to transport 629,900 passengers per day.
Currently, Jakarta is constructing the first phase of the MRT system, from Lebak Bulus to Bunderan HI, which will be put into operation next year.
In 2019, Jakarta will launch the tender of the initial procurement package for civil works. The phase two of Jakarta MRT is expected to be put into commercial operation in 2025.
MRT Jakarta will develop another MRT corridor, on East-West axis. According to some estimations, the line will have a length of 87 km and may be operational until 2027.
