Estonia to receive UWC’s timber platforms

UWC has supplied 162 platforms for transport of timber to the Estonian operator, Operail, formerly EVR Cargo.
The cars equipped with bogies with an increased axel load of 25 tf will replenish the car fleet of WagonPro AS, a subsidiary of Operail, which specializes in providing rolling stock for rent.
The timber transport platforms have been produced at TikhvinSpetsMash car building plant (part of UWC) since 2016.
The 40-foot platform differs from standard analogues thanks to increased payload capacity of up to 74 tonnes and greater loading volume, increased to 122 m3, which makes it possible to load up to 10 additional cubic meters of cargo onto the car. The platform’s design provides for ease of use and reduces unused dimensional volume.
Thanks to bogies with an increased axel load of 25 tf, the platform’s overhaul period has been increased to 800,000 km or 8 years, compared with 210,000 km (3 years) for the models widely represented in the 1,520mm gauge area. There are several UWC service centers on the territory of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
