EC approves the establishment of Thalys JV

thalys_train_1The European Commission has authorised the establishment of a joint venture, Thalys, by SNCF and SNCB operators. The project objective is to allow the new operator to stimulate competition on the high-speed corridors that link Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Cologne and Düsseldorf. As of 2015, SNCF would own 60% of Thalys’ shares and SNCB, 40%. Also, the Board will be covered by SNCF with 4 members and by SNCB with 7 members.
