Dynamic tests for Riyadh Metro conducted

Initial dynamic tests for the Riyadh Metro project were conducted in the past few weeks at FAST consortium Line 4 depot, which includes the demonstration of the performance of the railway system, from power supply to signalling systems, using the trains which have already been delivered.
As part of FAST consortium, Alstom is supplying a fully integrated metro system for lines 4, 5 and 6, which includes 69 Metropolis-based Riyadh Metro trains, Urbalis signalling system, Hesop energy recovery station as well as tracks.
The Metropolis-based train for Riyadh is composed of two cars per set and is 36 metres long. The trains will offer passengers a high level of comfort, ergonomic seating, LED lighting, air conditioning and passenger information system.
FAST Consortium is formed by FCC, Samsung C&T, Alstom, Strukton, Freyssinet Saudi Arabia, Atkins, Typsa and Setec. FAST Consortium is one of the three consortia contracted by Arriyadh Development Authority to design and build the Riyadh Metro project, consisting of 6 lines totalling 176 km and 85 metro stations.
Line 4 will have 29 km and 8 stations, linking King Khalid International Airport to the King Abdullah Financial District. Line 5 will have almost 13 km with 11 stations, in addition to 2 transfer stations with Lines 1 and 2. Line 6 will link King Abdullah Financial District to Prince Saad Ibn Abdulrahman Al Awal Road on a 21-km line with 6 stations.
