DPB strengthens freight operations with two EuroDual locomotives from ELP

DPB Rail Infra Service GmbH has entered a new partnership with European Loc Pool (ELP) AG, signing a full-service leasing contract for two EuroDual hybrid locomotives. The agreement expands DPB’s fleet with powerful and versatile traction units, reinforcing the company’s position in the rail freight sector.

Flexibility and performance decisive for DPB

For DPB, the flexibility of the EuroDual locomotives was a decisive factor in the investment decision.

“The flexibility of the EuroDual played a very important role in our decision. Particularly decisive for us was the possibility of having a locomotive with high tractive power that can operate in both diesel and electric modes. This allows us to respond flexibly to different operating conditions and cover new business areas that were previously not economically viable,”
said Niklas Bisenberger, Head of Rail at DPB.

Performance was another key consideration:

“A clear advantage lies in the high performance – it is around 1.5 times more powerful than a Vectron and can therefore be used on demanding routes. When deployed strategically, it significantly increases our competitiveness and opens up new market opportunities.”

DPB also praised ELP’s customer focus and service approach:

“We value ELP’s strong customer orientation and comprehensive services, which enable smooth and efficient execution of our projects,” Bisenberger added.

ELP welcomes the partnership

Willem Goosen, CEO of European Loc Pool, said:

“We are proud to welcome DPB as a new customer. The decision for two EuroDuals underlines the confidence in the performance of our hybrid locomotives and shows that flexibility, efficiency and sustainability are becoming increasingly important in rail freight transport.”

The two EuroDual locomotives will enter service in mid-2026 and operate on both national and international routes.
