Deutsche Bahn and United Wagon Company signed an agreement for the supply of 110 articulated flat cars for transport of heavyweight containers which will run on 1,435-mm gauge lines. Under the contract, the new cars are to be delivered by November 2020.
The Sggrs six-axle container cars have a length of 80 feet, a loading capacity of 108.6 tonnes and are able to safely transport ISO containers, tank containers and swap bodies with a gross weight of up to 36 tonnes in various size categories.
In 2018, the two companies signed a contract for the delivery of 160 Sggrs80 articulated container flat in the first half of 2020.
With the last contract, the Russian company will have to deliver a total of 270 freight cars.
In August, United Wagon Company has completed its 80-feet container car prototype sending it for TSI certification tests that are expected to be finished by the end of 2019.
