DB and CRRC sign agreement for 20 hybrid locomotives

CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co. and Deutsche Bahn signed a framework agreement for the supply of 20 AZLok hybrid shunting locomotives.
Under the agreement, CRRC will deliver a first batch of four such locomotives, which are designed according to the European Technical Specifications for Interoperability.
The locomotives would be used for infrastructure maintenance. “Germany is planning to upgrade its infrastructure, and railways are a focus in the new financial year,”Cui Hongjian, director of the Department of European Studies at the China Institute of International Studies, said, quoted by Global Times.
They are equipped with lithium batteries and can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
This is the first time China’s locomotives have been exported to Germany, marking recognition of China’s railway products, the company said.
