Czech Railways (České dráhy – ČD) will expand its night train offering from 14 December with a new direct service from Prague to Przemyśl in south-eastern Poland, providing improved access to the Polish–Ukrainian border region. The service, operated as part of the EN 443 Slovakia, will run daily with a through second-class seating coach and a modernised sleeper coach.

The new overnight connection departs Prague at 22:16, arriving in Przemyśl at 10:10 the following morning, offering comfortable arrival times in Kraków, Rzeszów and the key interchange at Przemyśl. In the opposite direction, the train will depart Przemyśl at 17:51 and arrive in Prague at 07:46.
Crucially, in both directions the service is timed to ensure smooth same-day connections with Ukrainian Railways (UZ) services to and from Lviv, Kyiv and Kharkiv, with transfer windows adjusted to accommodate necessary border procedures.
“Responding to rising demand”
“By launching a direct night train to south-eastern Poland and as far as the Ukrainian border, we are responding to growing demand for comfortable overnight travel to this region. Together with the Ukrainian national carrier, we will offer passengers a journey into the Ukrainian interior with only one transfer,” said Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board and CEO of České dráhy.
“Night trains have been experiencing a renaissance across Europe and České dráhy has successfully embraced this trend. We plan to continue expanding services into regions where we see high demand for rail travel, and Poland and Ukraine clearly belong among them.”
Upgraded sleeper comfort
The new connection will feature:
- A classic second-class compartment coach
- A fully modernised, air-conditioned Bcmz 834 sleeper coach with eight compartments in 4- or 6-berth configurations
- Options to book entire compartments (Single, Double, Triple)
- A women-only compartment available exclusively to female passengers
The sleeper coach will also debut an upgraded service concept. The sleeper supplement includes a light breakfast with water and a hot drink, pre-made beds with blankets and pillows, and an onboard attendant ensuring safety and quiet throughout the journey. A selection of snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase.
Faster Prague–Warsaw night connection
The timetable change will also improve the existing Prague–Warsaw night service. The sleeper coach will run via a shorter route, arriving in Warsaw at 08:00, more than an hour earlier than before.
Expanding a strong night train network
In the 2026 timetable, České dráhy and its partners will operate nine year-round and two seasonal night routes. On five of them, the carrier will provide its own sleeper and couchette coaches. On the lines to Poprad-Tatry, Košice and Humenné, the company will also continue offering its traditional car-carrying service.
Within the Czech Republic, night trains serve more than twenty destinations and provide year-round connections to over 60 cities across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.
