Croatia to restore Lupoglav – Raša railway line

HZ Infrastruktura and the Port of Rijeka Authority signed a cooperation agreement on the reconstruction of Lupoglav – Raša railway line and the establishment of the traffic to the Bršica port.
Under this agreement, the two sides start the cooperation on preparatory activities to apply the documentation for the EU co-financing for the railway reconstruction project.
Lupoglav – Raša railway line has been closed for many years and by the reconstruction works, it will be restored to increase freight capacity to and from Rijeka Port.
The two companies will jointly work on the preparation of a feasibility study and on documentation and application form for EU funding as well as for the implementation of a public procurement procedure for preparation of the feasibility study.
The costs of all these activities will be split in half between the port authority and the railway infrastructure manager. Within two years the project documentation and building permit will be completed.
If works will be successful, the Lupoglav – Raša project, would receive European financing through the 2021-2027 multiannual financing framework.
The project will include the construction of a double-track from Karlovac to Rijeka, including Rijeka city railway network.
