Croatia: tender for Dugo Selo-Krizevci rail fails

croatiaThe tender for the construction of the Dugo Selo-Krizevci rail track has failed because the only valid bid that was submitted was overpriced, Croatian transport minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic announced, seenews.com reports.
The tender was called by HZ Infrastruktura. From the two offers that were received, one was not valid, because the consortium included HZ Infrastruktura unit Pruzne Gradjevine. The other offer was priced 47 million euro higher than the amount that was planned for the works and was consequently not accepted.
The funds that were initially approved for the upgrade of this rail section will be repurposed for road infrastructure projects. Earlier this month, the European Investment Bank said it was considering lending 26 million euro to help finance the upgrade of the Dugo Selo-Krizevci rail track.
