Civil work contract on Philippines’ Clark Phase 1 signed

Philippines’ Department of Transport (DOTr) and the Taisei – D.M. Consunji Inc. (DMCI) Joint Venture signed the civil construction works for 6 stations of the PNR Clark Phase 1, running on a 37.6-km line from Tutuban, in Manila to Malolos, in Bulacan.
The first package of the railway project consists of civil works for elevated structures, a depot in Valenzuela, and the construction of the 6 stations – Solis, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Meycauayan, Marilao, and Bocaue.
“We are starting the second phase of PNR Clark 1, from Tutuban to Bocaue,” DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said at the signing ceremony.
During the ceremony, station designs were unveiled, including the Right of Way (ROW) status of the stations and the DOTr and Philippine National Railways are expediting the acquisition of ROW to complete the construction of the stations.
“We have completed 90.1% of the Right of Way. We have 443,000 square meters finalized and clear. With the efforts of the PNR and the DOTr, in a matter of time, the properties will be delivered free and clear so that the Filipino people can ride and experience the rail system ahead of time,” Secretary Tugade said.
The PNR Clark Phase 1 is funded by an Official Development Assistance from the Government of Japan, through JICA.

Construction works launched

Once PNR Clark Phase 1 is completed and fully operable by the last quarter of 2021, travel time from Manila to Bulacan will be reduced from 1 hour and 30 minutes to just 35 minutes. This rail line is expected to serve 300,000 passengers daily.
PNR Clark Phase 1 forms part of the 163-km North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project, which include three phases. The first one will have a total length of 37.6 km, the second one, from Malolos to Clark, Pampanga will be 53-km long, and the third one, 56 km, from Manila to Calamba, Laguna.
