Cityringen closer to connection with the rest of Copenhagen mass transit system

Cityringen Copenhaga_KH-Borebisse-og-gaester-webTwo tunnel boring machines (TBMs) broke through Copenhagen Central Station marking a significant milestone in the ‘complex’ Cityringen metro project.
The Cityringen line is a completely new, entirely underground, fully automated metro which will will extend for 16 kilometres through the centre of Copenhagen.
The Cityringen line, which will operate 24 hours a day, is set to be completed in 2019.
The two TBMs completed another segment of the tunnelling programme 30 metres below Copenhagen Central Station (Copenhagen H).
Copenhagen mayor Frank Jensen said: “The Copenhagen H station is the large traffic center which connects the capital to the rest of Denmark.
“The future metro station will therefore not only benefit the residents of Copenhagen but also all those who use Copenhagen H as an entry to the city or who are going away from the capital and around in Denmark.”
