China awards maintenance contract for 71 trains

China State Railway Group awarded Bombardier Sifang Transportation (BST) a EUR 321 million contract for the maintenance of 656 high-speed train cars.

BST will provide different levels of maintenance for the 71 trains which includes CRH1A-A, CRH1A, CRH1B, CRH1E and CRH380D. All the maintenance services will be completed by the end of 2020.

“In China, we bring together integrated designing, manufacturing and maintenance service expertise to support our customers’ strategic goals, and we look forward to contributing further to the development of China’s railway industry,” Jianwei Zhang, President, Bombardier Transportation China, said.

In February 2019, BST was awarded another maintenance contract for 60 cars and has successfully delivered the service.

The 71 trains were manufactured by BST, 50:50 percent owned by Bombardier and CRRC Sifang Rolling Stock Co.
