CFR SA selected the consortium to connect Otopeni Airport to the rail network

Bucharest Metro Line 6SC Arcada Company SA – SC ISPCF SA – DB Engineering & Consulting GMBH Consortium has been selected by the Romanian rail infrastructure manager, CFR SA, as winner of the contract on the modernisation of Bucureşti Nord – Henri Coandă International Airport, Phase I: rail link at T1 Terminal, Henri Coanda Bucharest International Airport.

The project is aimed to create a direct link between Gara de Nord and Henri Coandă International Airport by building a double track railway of 2.95 km, a 1.52 km viaduct to cross DN1, three culverts, an electronic interlocking equipment and a passenger station at T1 terminal.

The total estimated cost of the contract, expected to last 14 months (two months for design and 12 months for execution) is EUR 88.6 million, VAT excluded, the financing source being ensured from cohesion funds and state budget funds, for the financial framework 2014-2020.

The current link, Gara de Nord – Airport Halt was opened in 2009. Porr Construct SRL and Mapa Inşaat VE Ticaret AŞ submitted bids in the tender.
