Canada: reduced budget for rail security

The budget allocated to rail security by the Federal Ministry of Transport in Canada has reduced by over 10% in the past year, show the financial documents submitted to the House of Communes.
The sums authorised by the Ministry of Transport for railway security have amounted to USD 33.4 Million over the past year. USD 4 Million have not been used. The ministry said that the amount which has not been spent was due to the a smaller number of demands submitted within the Programme on the improvement of level crossings.
