In Brazil, the contract has been signed with Motiva Group, the concessionaire that operates Line 5 of the São Paulo Metro. The agreement covers 14 years of comprehensive maintenance for the 26 six-car units supplied by CAF under the 2011 contract awarded by São Paulo Metro. This work will be carried out at the Capão Redondo and Guido Caloi workshops.

These units serve Metro Line 5 (Lilac), which runs through the densely populated city of Sao Paulo. This is one of the six lines that make up the metropolitan system, spanning 20 km and connecting several of the city’s main districts, including Santo Amaro, Moema, and Vila Mariana, carrying over 600,000 passengers a day.

This contract strengthens CAF’s presence in Brazil, a country in which the company has been operating since 1998. During this time, CAF has completed projects worth over EUR 2 billion for various Brazilian clients, including CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos), Trensurb in Porto Alegre, CBTU in Belo Horizonte, and São Paulo Metro.

In New Zealand, Auckland One Rail Limited awarded CAF the train maintenance contract covering the provision of engineering services, training, and spare parts for the fleet of 95 electric units supplied by CAF to Auckland Transport since 2011. The contract will last for five years, and the work will be carried out at the workshop located in Wiri, Auckland, where these units are maintained.

Auckland One Rail Limited is a private company owned 50% by ComfortDelGro and UGL Rail Services, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Auckland’s electric rail network, the most extensive in New Zealand, belonging to Auckland Transport. The system has four lines, with a total length of 94 km and 42 stations, making it a key hub for urban mobility in the country.

This new project ensures the continuity of CAF’s operations in New Zealand, reaffirming its commitment to the development of sustainable transport in the region.
