Bombardier presents its Traxx locomotive platform

Bombardier Transportation presented its Traxx locomotive platform and innovative service solutions at the Transport Logistic 2019 exhibition, taking place in Munich.
The innovative Traxx platform offers the latest generation of electronics and improved mechanics to provide advantages from power and tractive effort, to energy efficiency and maintenance. For example, the MS3 locomotive is the first and only multi-system locomotive that can be equipped with the Last Mile function, a technology that enables to bridge non-electrified track sections, and the DC3 version is available with this option as well.
To date, more than 2,000 of these locomotives are operating in 20 countries, covering a combined distance of 300 million kilometers per-year. Their operators can rely on a dense network of workshops all over Europe as well as a multi-language, 24/7 support hotline and other benefits from Bombardier’s Services teams.
Two years ago, Bombardier launched the Traxx 3 platform and since then, 150 such locomotives were ordered. To dated, 20 DC3 locomotives are running in Italy, with the six pre-series MS3 locomotives currently completing test runs on various networks to obtain authorization in more than 10 countries and for more than 50 configurations, defined by the countries where the locomotive shall operate and the technical options like last mile, remote control, bogie type.
