In addition, there is a 15+15 years operations and maintenance contract with a potential value of about EUR 1.1 billion. The rolling stock part of the order will be developed and built in Derby, UK.
One of the projects envisages the construction of a 54-km monorail system connecting the New Administrative City with East Cairo and the second 42-km line will link 6th October City with Giza.
The two monorail projects will be operated by 27 trains running at speeds of 80 km/h, which will be able to transport 48,000 passenger per hour/direction.
