Bombardier and Hitachi unveil HS2 train concept

Bombardier and Hitachi released the image of their HS2 train design, considered a ‘Great British’ train proposal.
“Hitachi-Bombardier’s Great British train for HS2 would be a shining example of British ingenuity. Our bid, if successful, would bring significant benefits for economies and communities, while truly transforming connectivity and passengers’ experience,” Hitachi Rail’s Managing Director, Karen Boswell OBE, said.
The two companies joined forces for the tender released at the end of 2017 for the design, build and maintain up to 54 high-speed trains for UK’s Phase One of HS2 line.
The two companies have delivered high-speed trains to Trenitalia – the Frecciarossa ETR1000 train, which operate at speeds of up to 225 mph.
“HS2 is this generation’s chance to transform our country. Our Great British train will connect our great cities and improve the journeys of every passenger. HS2’s vision is to be a catalyst for growth across Britain – we are ready to make that happen,” Bombardier’s President, UK, Phil Hufton said.
