Belarusian Railways to launch container service to Romania

Belintertrans – Transport-Logistics Center (BTLC) of Belarusian Railways is launching a new project: a regular container service from Belarus to Romania. The BTLC partners are Rail Cargo Logistics d.o.o. (Slovenia) and Zakhid-Trans-Service transport company (Ukraine), BelTA has learned from the press center of Belarusian Railways. The new container train carrying Belarusian timber products will depart from Gantsevichi railway station in the first decade of March. The train will consist of 124 containers. Transporting such products requires the use of Open Top containers with increased capacity. “One of the main advantages of our new project is smart logistics built around speedy delivery of cargoes — 39 hours. We intend to transport 120,000 tonnes of freight in 2019,” Belarusian Railways noted. One of the strategic goals for Belarusian Railways is to increase shipment of cargo of Belarusian manufactures. In 2019, the company plans to implement new transport projects. Jointly with Russian and Azerbaijan rail operators Belarusian Railways is working on a new container project Minsk-Baku. This project will allow delivering Belarusian products to Azerbaijan faster (7 days) and at competitive rates, Belarusian Railways said.
