Belarusian Railway awards two signalling contracts

Belarusian Railway awarded AŽD Praha two major contracts with a total value of CZK 290 million (EUR 11.3 million). As part of the modernsation of the Zlobin – Kalinkovici – Slovecno railway, AŽD Praha will provide in the initial stage the signalling equipment for CZK 20 million (EUR 779 thousand) and for the Kalinkovici railway junction project, the value is CZK 270 million (EUR 10.5 million).
The first contract includes the delivery of ABE-1-BC electronic automatic block system and a diagnostic system for the first stage Zlobin Podolskij – Mormal – Jascicy section. For this contract, AŽD Praha cooperates with the local partner BETZ (Brest Electro-technic Plant), which contributes with about one half of the production to this contract. In addition, a total of 14 railway stations will be modernized on the entire 159-km track section, 5 of which will be equipped with station interlocking equipment ESA 44-BC type, provided by AŽD Praha, and 9 will be equipped with Dnepr interlocking equipment from BETZ. The Belarusian Railways will gradually add individual facilities to the project depending on the progress of the project work. The project will be gradually completed by the end of 2021.
Securing the Kalinkovici railway junction is the second contract for which AŽD Praha will deliver and install the fully electronic station interlocking system type ESA 44-BC, open line signalling equipment ABE-1-BC, diagnostic systems and power stands. The scope of this project envisages securing a total of 188 switches. “This means that AŽD Praha will produce and deliver all the technologies on the turnkey” basis,” AŽD Praha CEO, Zdenek Chrdle, said.
The installation of the whole system should be completed in accordance with the contract by the middle of this year. The final testing of the equipment will be carried out at AŽD Praha plant in Olomouc.
