Approval granted for the upgrade of Budapest’s metro trains

03_budapestThe Budapest Local Council approved an agreement on the conditions for the renovation of metro trains, The Budapest Business Journal informs. The project concerns the rolling stock for line 3 of the metro network. A contract is to be signed with the Budapest Public Transport Company (BKV) for the renovation of the trains by 1 July. The project will be completed by the end of 2017 and will be financed through a loan taken by the city to the value of HUF 60 bln (194 million euros). The renovation of the Soviet-era rolling stock will be cheaper than acquiring new metro trains.
