Amsterdam and CAF signed the metro contract

Amsterdam public transport company GVB and CAF signed the contract for the supply of 30 metro trains, with an option for additional 30 type M7 trainsets. In May, GVB selected CAF as preferred bidder for the supply of a series of new metros.
The new trains are based on Inneo platform, CAF´s range of metro units equipped with the latest technological advances in terms of safety, performance and comfort.
The 60-meter long trains are prepared for driverless operation. They are also fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and passenger information systems, they are energy efficient and easy to maintain. They are equipped with LED lighting system and spotlights above the seats. The new metros have two multifunctional spaces reserved for travelers with reduced mobility.
The trainsets will replace older generation of vehicles still in service. The S2 and S3 series trains are due for replacement in 2024, and the M4 sets in 2027. They will provide extra transport capacity on the busy Amsterdam metro network.
