Amey has secured a USD 2.8 million (GBP 2 million) contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to deliver an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Implementation System for the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), marking a significant step in the company’s expansion into the United States.

The contract will see Amey introduce advanced asset management services for the LIRR, one of the busiest commuter railroads in North America. Stretching from Manhattan to Suffolk County, the network operates more than 900 trains each week and carries around 200,000 passengers daily.
Amey will support the MTA in digitising paper-based processes, developing smart data visualisation dashboards, and integrating data siloes into a connected ecosystem. The company will provide Hexagon EAM configuration, data management and analytics, business process mapping, solution design and build, user guidance, and staff training.
Andy Milner, Amey’s Chief Executive Officer, said:
“This award is a significant milestone in Amey’s journey to grow internationally, and it underscores our strategic ambition to expand into carefully selected geographies. The United States presents an exciting opportunity, with a clear and growing demand for advanced consulting, digital transformation and data analytics services that Amey is known for. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is one of the most complex and high-volume transport networks in North America, and we’re proud to be supporting the Long Island Rail Road with cutting-edge asset management solutions.”
Milner noted that the opening of Amey’s New York office earlier this year reflected the company’s ambition to grow in the US, enabling closer collaboration with clients and partners.
Supporting the MTA
Colin Wood, Managing Director of Amey’s Consulting division, added:
“We’re delighted to be announcing our expansion into the US market with this new contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. With our extensive experience of integrated asset management and knowledge of complex operational delivery, our team is well placed to work alongside the MTA to digitalise their systems and enhance decision making. The Long Island Rail Road is a vast and historic part of New York City’s public transport system, and we’re fully committed to ensuring its efficiency, safety and longevity.”
International expansion
The contract comes as Amey steps up its international growth strategy. Alongside its entry into the US market, the company has also re-entered Australia through the acquisition of Premise, a full-service multidisciplinary consultancy.
The new LIRR agreement reinforces Amey’s position as a provider of integrated, data-driven infrastructure services, with the company now extending its expertise to one of the most complex rail networks in North America.
