Alstom to supply 12 metro sets for Paris

Alstom, working as part of a consortium with Bombardier Transport and AREVA TA, will be supplying STIF and RATP with 12 new MF01 metro sets for lines 2, 5 and 9 of the Paris metro network. The project is worth around EUR 75M.
The order covers the design studies, development and manufacturing of train sets for which deliveries are planned until 2016. This exercising of existing options is part of the RATP’s general policy aimed at renewing its metro trains and improving its services.
The MF01 consumes 30% less energy than a traditional train thanks to improvements in the efficiency of the drive train and highly effective energy recovery systems linked to the train’s electric brakes.
