French manufacturer Alstom made record purchases totaling EUR 700.89 million from companies in Spain during the 2025/2026 fiscal year, a 32% increase over the previous year. The group worked with 746 local suppliers.
Alstom is strengthening its industrial base in Spain, where purchases from local suppliers exceeded the EUR 700 million threshold for the first time.
In the 2025/2026 fiscal year, the company purchased EUR 700.89 million worth of products and services from 746 Spanish suppliers. This amount is 32% higher than the figure recorded in the previous year.
Purchases cover the entire railway supply chain, from components and engineering services to rolling stock manufacturing, maintenance, signaling, and digital solutions.
Half of the sales came from exports
Alstom generated EUR 897 million in sales in Spain during the 2025/2026 fiscal year. Approximately half of this amount came from projects intended for foreign markets.
“Exceeding the EUR 700 million threshold in purchases from local suppliers reflects our confidence in their competitiveness and expertise,” said Leopoldo Maestu, Alstom’s general manager in Spain.
The company states that its operations generate a total of over 7,500 direct, indirect, and induced jobs in the Spanish economy.
Alstom has over 3,000 employees in the country, hailing from 44 countries.
Over 30 facilities in Spain
The Group operates one of its most extensive industrial and technological platforms in Europe in Spain, consisting of over 30 facilities.
The main factories and industrial centers are located in: In addition to these are engineering and development centers specializing in rolling stock, maintenance, digital mobility, signaling, and rail safety.
- Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, near Barcelona;
- Trápaga, in the province of Bizkaia;
- Pinto, in the Madrid region;
- Getafe, also in the Madrid region.
The plant near Barcelona has over 1,200 employees
Alstom’s facility in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda has over 1,200 employees and can manage complete rolling stock projects, from design and engineering through production and commissioning.
The trains manufactured here are intended for both operators in Spain and international projects.
The group’s center of excellence for signaling and railway safety is located in Madrid. It develops solutions for automatic train control, high-speed line signaling, and passenger information systems.
