Agreement signed for rail development in Małopolska Region

The Deputy Marshal of the Małopolska Region, Łukasz Smółka, and Ireneusz Merchel, the President PKP Polish Railway Lines, signed a letter of intend for railway transport development in the region Lesser Poland, in particular the Krakow agglomeration.
Under the cooperation agreement, a preliminary feasibility study will be elaborated which will establish the development directions of the railway line network in the Lesser Poland.
“Together with local authorities, we strive to provide the best conditions for further development of the railway transport. The National Railway Programme, currently being implemented, creates good conditions for rail travel in agglomerations and we want to develop this area,” Ireneusz Merchel said.
For the implementation of the selected projects, the voivodship will cover 25% of feasibility study costs, representing PLN 1 million (EUR 227.7 thousand) and the remaining costs will be delivered by PKP PLK. The two partners will jointly develop the feasibility study. It will define the investment priorities in the Lesser Poland voivodship as part of the planned EU perspective 2021-2027.
