A woman from Strasbourg “married” a tram

A woman from Strasbourg says she has been living an unusual love story with a tram from the CTS network for several years, and in 2024 she even organized a symbolic “wedding” ceremony with the vehicle.

The woman, Sandra Rahm, aged 44, claims that her connection with tram number 3013, from the Alstom Citadis 2 fleet, began in the summer of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. Since then, she says, the vehicle has become a central presence in her life.

A relationship she describes as real

Sandra Rahm explains that her passion for trams dates back to her teenage years, but her connection with tram 3013 emerged specifically during the pandemic, when she began writing a book and paying increasing attention to the world of urban transit.

In her own account, the decisive moment came in July 2020, when she says she felt a special connection with the tram she still sees today as her partner. Since then, the number 3013 has become omnipresent in her apartment, from photographs and decorative items to personal accessories.

Symbolic ceremony in 2024

In June 2024, Sandra Rahm also organized a symbolic ceremony in which she says she “married” tram 3013. According to her account, the event took place with the support of a CTS tram driver who is close to her, and the ceremony was accompanied by photographs and a small reenactment along the route.

Sandra Rahm presents the story as a genuine relationship, even if one that is difficult for those around her to understand.

Objectophilia, a rare emotional orientation

Her case is associated with objectophilia, that is, the development of an emotional or sentimental bond with an object. It is a rare and poorly documented phenomenon, but one that has been cited in other stories covered by the media over the years.

Sandra Rahm says she wants to speak publicly about this experience precisely so that her relationship is not reduced to mere curiosity or a joke.

A book about the “inexplicable bond”

She is currently working on a book dedicated to this story, titled “Un lien inexplicable” (“An Inexplicable Bond”), in which she aims to describe her relationship with tram 3013 and how it has changed her life.

At the same time, Sandra Rahm regularly shares her story on social media, where she has already gathered several thousand followers interested in this unusual relationship.

Between fascination and rejection

Her story has sparked both fascination and hostile reactions. Sandra Rahm says she has been mocked, insulted, and even threatened, but insists she has no intention of giving up speaking openly about what she considers to be a real relationship.

Beyond its unusual nature, the case has likely made tram 3013 one of the most famous multiple units in Strasbourg’s transit network.
