Winners announced for Warsaw M2 line expansion

Warsaw metro1Warsaw Metro announced that Turkish company Gulermark and Astdaldi won the contract on construction works for the extensions of the second metro line in Poland’s capital.
Gulermark will build the metro section from Rondo Daszyńskiego station and while Astaldi will construct the line in the north-east direction.
Within the tender, the lowest price offer was submitted by Gulermark, in the amount of PLN 1.47 billion (EUR 345 million) and the highest offer was presented by Metrostav Polska (PLN 1.8 billion-EUR 422.55 million).
For the tender that involves the construction of north-east section, Astaldi submitted a PLN 1.06 billion (EUR 248.8 million) offer, while Budimex, a higher offer, in the amount of PLN 1.49 billion (EUR 349.77 million).
The two companies have 38 months to complete three stations each following the signing of the contract. The six new stations will expand the whole length of the M2 line to 13.5 km.
In October 2014, Warsaw City announced the tender for the construction of two extensions of the second metro line.
The extension from Rondo Daszyńskiego station will be built on westwards into the Wola district on Warsaw and the other will head to the north-east of Dworzec Wileński in the Praga district. Each of them will add three stations to the line.
The second line in its new shape is scheduled to be completed in 2019. It will then have tunnels extending for 13.5 kilometres and 13 stations.
