Vossloh acquires Nordic Tamping Service

Vossloh has acquired Nordic Tamping Service (NTS), based in Borlänge, Sweden. NTS specializes in tamping ballast to stabilize rails and operates in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. The acquisition was completed on January 9, 2026.

By taking over Nordic Tamping Service, Vossloh is acquiring an experienced and well-coordinated team as well as all technical equipment. This enables Vossloh to expand its range of services for railway network operators in Scandinavia to include ballast tamping, a service used in the installation and maintenance of railways.

Through its services, Nordic Tamping Service offers flexible and efficient solutions tailored to the needs of customers of all sizes in the three countries, including private and state-owned railway infrastructure owners. As a result, the company ensures that customers’ facilities are in the best possible condition to reduce wear and tear and future maintenance costs.

Nordic Tamping Service specializes in tamping railway ballast, an essential process for stabilizing rails and maintaining the geometry of railway tracks. The company provides professional services for the installation and maintenance of railway lines, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of railway networks. NTS operates mainly in Sweden and Norway, tailoring its activities to the needs of different customers, including private and state-owned owners of railway infrastructure.

Vossloh currently employs approximately 530 people in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. Nordic Tamping Service will be integrated into Vossloh’s Lifecycle Solutions business unit. Lifecycle Solutions is the Vossloh division that provides comprehensive maintenance, repair, and optimization services for railway infrastructure. By combining expertise in railway lifecycle management with modern technology and equipment, the division supports railway network operators in maintaining their infrastructure in optimal condition, reducing wear and tear, maintenance costs, and downtime. The integration of NTS into this division allows Vossloh to include ballast tamping, an essential service for stabilizing and maintaining rails, in its portfolio of comprehensive solutions.
