Valladolid-León HSR opened

renfeSpain inaugurated Valladolid-Palencia-León high-speed line, a EUR 1.6 billion project. The new 166 km extension is part of Madrid-Segovia-Valladolid high-speed line that is in service since 2007.
The line connects Asturias (León), Cantabria (Palencia) Burgos and Basque Country (Venta de Baños) and is designed for maximum speed of 350 km/h.
With the commissioning of the new section, time travel between Madrid and León will be around 2 hours and 6 minutes, which means a saving of 44 minutes compared to current time, and between Madrid and Palencia, 1 hour and 23 minutes, a 21 minutes saving time compared to current time travel.
