The European Commission referred Denmark to the Court of Justice for rail safety

DSBThe European Commission announced that it has referred Denmark to the European Court of Justice for not transposing European rules on rail safety fully and correctly (Directive 2004/49/EC). The deadline for the implementation of the directive was 30 April 2006. The Commission had already requested Denmark to transpose the directive through a reasoned opinion in January 2014, but the Danish authorities did not take the necessary legislative steps. The rules aim to ensure safety on the railways and improve access to the market for rail transport services.
